Description
7:00 - 8:30 pm Atlantic Time on August 5, 2025, on Zoom; click here to register
Open-net pen expansion threatens the health of Nova Scotia's marine environment, the accessibility of our coasts for culture and leisure, and the sustainability of our wild-caught fisheries and tourism industry.
It is critically important for Nova Scotians to vocally and strategically oppose open-net pen finfish feedlot expansion before it's too late.
This multinational industry has been met by a global resistance movement, with other jurisdictions successfully banning this destructive industry practice.
What made their campaigns successful?
What advice do they have for us?
Come find out!

We'll begin with an update from the Healthy Bays Network about Nova Scotia’s Coastal Classification System and its implications for the province. Then we’ll hear from environmental advocates and movement leaders in Norway, Tasmania, Argentina, and British Columbia. And to end, our panellists will respond to questions from the audience.
We are tremendously excited about our guest panel, the opportunity to ask questions, and the possibility of building a bigger, broader and more effective opposition movement in Atlantic Canada.
